Here are some words from a French dictionary. Bread heated over some kind of flame is toast. There are a lot of different toasts. These include French toast which is called eggy bread parts of the United Kingdom. It's pain perdu in French. It's made by dipping the bread in egg and frying it. It can be topped with butter, fruit, syrup, or many other items including strawberries.
Toast in the French can be to honor
someone or something. For example a guest may toast a host. The French call it en l'honneur de.
A French will contain the word bread. The French word is pain. It does not refer to a loaf of bread or a slice of bread, but more specifically to a loaf of soap, or ice. Panade in French is bread soup.
The word for restaurant found in a French is cafe. The word is used in English too. If you own a restaurant in France you're a restauranteur. In French it's a masculine word.
Pomme is in the French as the word for potato. You might eat some pommes frites with your hot dog †they're French fries. The children's television host Fred Rogers once bought some pommes frites from Chef Brocket. The phrase pommes de la soupe would be potato soup. Some who wanted cheese on a potato would ask for pommes du fromage.
As you can see a French as more uses than just for love.
