desert Willow - Is It Just An Amazing Place To Know
By Henry Diaz
Thank you for choosing to read this paper, it was written specifically to be of aid to you.

Deserts are full of plants that have adapted to a harsh environment. Not only must they deal with a lack of water, but also with temperature extremes that can go from 150F during the day to freezing at night. On top of all that, the soil is full of salt. One of these plants the Willow. It can thrive in these conditions. The bright flowers it provides are a surprise to many people.

Technically the Willow isn't a willow. Believe it or not it's a Begonia. In fact, it's the only type of Bigonia that grows in California. It grows in northern Mexico, southwestern Texas, and through to Southern California. It is a native of the Sonoran, Mojave and Chihuahuan deserts.

Often the Willow is huge. The trunk can be as much as 6 inches thick. It's also quite long †reaching up to 25 feet. The leaves are even large, three to six inches long with sharp ends. Their flowers can be up to 2 inches long. Fruit is shaped like a cigar and can reach 8 inches in length. Seeds of this

plant have tiny wings that allow them to spread further from the parent plant.

Roots of the Willow reach deep into the ground to pull water from the water table. If they flower, it's a sure sign water can't be far. That's means some digging will probably produce moisture. It does not produce flowers when conditions are dry. experts use the flower when they're looking for water. Very dry deserts, like the Atacama Desert, where only 1 mm of waterfalls each year, won't have the Willow.

The Willow is also called Mimbre. The Mimbre, a Spanish name meaning willow-like, is sometimes used to make a tea. This tea is made from the dried flowers. It's wood is useful for fence posts. People get a lot of use out of this plant.

The Willow is pretty unique.

In conclusion Id like to say thank you to you for reading this article and good luck with any issues related to this information.
