IBEX is like a weatherman interested in fronts and their interaction with the medium they encounter. To be exact it is the solar wind and how it interacts with space beyond the reach of the sun. Another goal is to create an accurate picture of the solar system's boundaries.

More news covered by magazine is the discovery of a new aurora on Saturn that's unlike any other known aurora in the solar system. An aurora is formed when charged particles stream along planetary magnetic field. Earth's auroras result from the solar winds. Jupiter's aurorae come from interactions within Jupiter's own magnetic field. But Saturn's new aurora, seen in the infrared spectrum, is something completely new which could

teach scientists a lot about the solar wind and magnetic fields.

Contact with intelligent life may be a matter of less than 15 years thanks to the Allen telescope array, at least that's what's in news. With time the array will grow in power provided by 350 radio antennas. Well before 2025 people reached so far into space that it can't help but find intelligence.

Finding another intelligent race somewhere out there sure would be huge news.
